Chatting About Writing
Writers, have you ever been in a public place and found yourself staring at someone? It's not that you're being rude, it's just that you can't help it.
Then a little while later you suddenly find those people or something they've said entering your novel.
It's not really you're fault, it's just a natural thing that happens to we writers. We find ourselves working out what words would describe them best and where they could fit into our novels.
I wonder what it is that attracts us to these people? Is it what they look like? Is it what they say? I have no idea. I have never worked out why I couldn't stop staring at the old lady with the walker or the little girl eating ice cream! All I know is that they interested me.
What about you? Is it just me or do you do the same and stare off into space?

I tend to stare. Like you, I don't quite know why. I think it's not so much the people, I tend to think it's more something in me, my own little silly brain. When you see an interesting face, the story naturally appears, along with a history, a favorite colour and a secret joke. I think it's called daydreaming. :) or maybe creativity. I think it's what a good portrait photographer does as well. See more to a face than just the face.
